Filming:
Day One:
7th February 2020
Today I filmed an interview with Pauline Drew and got some footage for B roll.
I'm confidant of how my footage looks because of my previous footage always having slight problems with how it looks I took extra time ensuring that it was in focus and the lighting was good. The only problem is I felt as if my interviewee was slightly nervous and didn't always explain her ideas. However I still feel as though I got lot's of useful information and footage also looking back at the footage I discovered that the audio is quieter than I would have liked.
Day Two:
28th February 2020
Today I filmed Jade Barrett in an interview and also her baby Audrey.
I was able to get lots of B roll for my documentary because of Jade having lots of essential baby stuff such as a cot, a pram and a nappy changing station. My footage looks good I took time to make sure that the lighting was good. However in my interview I would have preferred a better background instead I choose where the lighting was better.

Day Three:
29th February 2020
I interviewed Sadie Knowles and gathered some B roll.
My interview went very well Sadie gave me lots of interesting answers and she was also helpful in getting some photo albums out for me to film. Again with this interview I choose where to film it based more on lighting than what made a good background.

Editing:
For my first edit I started by cutting my interview into sub clips by putting my in and out points onto the clip right clicking and selecting make sub clip. Then to help with organisation I named my clips after what my subject is talking about.
After collecting all my footage I realised I needed to start over because I wanted to filter all the footage together also I had recorded my voice over which needed to be added.
So i started again after sub clipping all my footage I made my introduction.
After adding my voice over I used footage I had captured for cut away's which allows the audience to understand the context of the documentary in a short amount of time. This took time because I had to find clips that worked with the voice over but also footage that I probably wouldn't need through out the rest of the documentary.
I decided to start with all the footage from my interviews and work out a story to start with I struggled trying to make sense of all my footage. I moved forward by connecting subjects and found a lot of talking points by re playing my full length interviews. However when I had a brain wave of cut away's that would work with interviews I added them.
I also added graphics to my footage which is the first time I have done so. I achieved this by placing my time stamp on the footage I wanted the text to cover. Then I selected the text box from the tool box and wrote in what I wanted.
Feedback:
After finishing a rough cut of my documentary I received feed back from my tutor. It was mainly positive however he commented on some jump cuts which I had notice however I found that I couldn't make the clips flow together but I wanted to use them. I considered adding a cut away over this cut however I couldn't find any footage that worked so I made the decision to leave it in. Also he mentioned adding graphics saying how long each interviewee has been a Mother which I agreed would add more context so I added them. Furthermore he said some cut away's should be left slightly longer to allow the audience to properly view them.
